My collie mix Tigger passed away January 9, 2010. While donating Tiggs' things to a Collie Rescue I saw two dogs that looked a lot like Tigger and both 3 years old like Tigger was when i adopted Tigger from doggie homeless shelter in 2000. I'd gone from hoping I didn't hurt dogs and the person's feelings who ran Collie Rescue if I wasn't up to petting any of the Collies to adopting two:
Princess Lassie Tiggetta aka Lacy
King Edward (just Eddie) Tiggie aka Romeo
Eddie named after cute hairstyle of little boy Eddie in TV series THE MUNSTERS (Since dark portions of Eddie's hair on his head forms a point too.)
Already Lassie Tiggetta has a vet bill of over $300 from digestive problems. Veterinarian is aware we just lost Tigger with a $10,000 veterinarian bill and charged us over 400% for Panacur C 2 gram and 4 gram packages of 3 packets. $39 package sells online for $8.99 and $34 package sells for $5.99 online.
A BIG part of what causes homeless pets is veterinarians doing this. I worked for a place that sold Levi jeans that said a fair markup is 100%. When Lynn got home from veterinarian I remembered y'all said to ask vets for lesser priced at pharmacy yet why should someone HAVE to ask. This type not at pharmacy. I looked online just curious if could pay less online. YES! $59 less! Tigger just passed away! Why would a veterinarian not just offer least expensive as a fellow American and human being especially since KNOWS we just spent $10,000 on Tigger to try to save Tiggs? Lynn's embarrassed to take back Panacur C and get online and doesn't want me to.
Not first time either. When Lynn first was laid off before had his own business for 14 years before retired last year. He told another vet he couldn't afford the suggested most expensive $80 antibiotic for our Irish Setter, Cyndee's, bladder infection and was there a lesser price, "Yes". Veterinarian gave us HUGE 500 mg. tabs of Amoxicillin I think it was. I recognized name & called pharmacy to ask what a prescription would cost there and they said $16. I went to veterinarian (another one than one we have now) who after getting over $100 for an office visit charged $10 to write a prescription for the easier to swallow capsules that also cost $32 less at Albertsons pharmacy. HE KNEW LYNN HAD JUST BEEN LAID OFF and played guilt trips on us for not getting $80 antibiotic for Cyndee Pooh THEN doesn't offer to write a prescription for an easier to swallow capsule if "he" really cared about Cyndee Pooh even if didn't care about us???
I wish you'd have me on THE DOCTORS for Congress to ask themselves too... Why is it we have $$$'s for Teapot Museums and Airports and to nowhere and other pork barrel projects yet not for healthcare for fellow Americans?
Why are pet owners made to feel guilty if won't buy $80 antibiotic and a veterinarian have the audacity to charge $48 for a medication rather than write a prescription where person could get for $16 at Albertsons in the first place after person just told vet, LAID OFF! Why, NOW, would a veterinarian charge over 300% for Panacur C when KNOWS pet owners just lost a pet after $10,000 trying to save Tiggs January 9, 2010? Y'all tell me WhY!
Why are Americans such as myself and at least 10 Dr. Phil and THE DOCTORS Website members I know and WAY MANY more I don't know begging for care from TV shows! Because when an uninsured person goes to the doctor has to have cash up front and if that doesn't deter person from going referred into oblivion a doctor told me that refused me as a patient and told me why I was referred to him because nobody wanted me as a patient since I'm uninsured. Yet that HE wouldn't take my money too and do refer me as other doctors did knowing he didn't plan to accept me as a patient since I wasn't insured. Am I any less human or an American since I'm uninsured like over 35 Million other Americans?
I SAVED 14 YEARS to replace grandmother's house I lost during multiple family illness and spent over $7,000 of it on medical bills because I had NO idea that once I was uninsured I would be referred into oblivion until ALL MY SAVINGS gone so I qualify for medicare or disability. I already knew my knees hurt I didn't need $7,000 in tests to find out hurt yet no doctor wants me as a patient to fix since I'm uninsured... Tell me up front and be honest no intention to treat or fix and I'll hobble along $7,000 richer.
Like Dr. Jim Sears asked us on Twitter to ask y'all for him to get to go to Hawaii and I was one of persons who did... I should have just sent Dr. Jim and his family to Hawaii myself with that $7,000 since Dr. Jim is so nice on Twitter and such a dedicated doctor and fellow doctor on THE DOCTORS. People on disability or who have been on disability actually condescend to me since I'm uninsured although I was insured over 20 years of my life. However, to all those on disability smoking, doping and boozing it up on disability moneys y'all ought to not since not fair to taxpayers.
I'm like Dr. Phil and don't smoke, dope or booze it up and saved 14 years to pay cash for a fixer upper yet so far I miss out on all the miracle deals. I have actually thought of taking all my savings and just throwing up in the air and just say take it. No I won't yet have felt that exacerbated. I cannot afford to replace my house and $7,000+ less of a chance now. I cannot afford dental care. I cannot afford healthcare. I cannot afford my pets... when OVER PRICED 300% and not because I don't care about myself or Lassie Tiggetta and Eddie (Just Eddie).
I know lots of people want to belong to Country Clubs and things yet all I want is a modest home like my grandmother's 1945 frame house in my home town by my childhood home and to have medical, dental & visual care so I'm in tip top shape. I SAVED 14 years to do that and, hopefully, get a job w/insurance. A doctor told me not to walk on my knees far and exacerbate grade 3 & 4 meniscal tears before I have fixed. Well, like Dr. Travis, I'd plan to walk or ride a bike to work in my home town if ever I got a fixer upper there.
Dr. Phil, Extreme Makeover and THE DOCTORS gave me renewed faith in doctors and dentists THEM. Not the dentist another dentist said didn't seat crown properly so caused that tooth and tooth next to it to be abscessed, $3,600. Oh, and root canal he SAID he did the dentist who treated abscess of that crowned tooth said never done. Dentist who redid said he could reseat property when I scheduled appointment then when I asked about later said couldn't and didn't. Maybe thought could then discovered couldn't as i try to give people benefit of doubt.
And now if I'm nakedly honest about how much it hurts so maybe if ever I had a chance to be blessed with an medical, dental & visual Ultimate Makeover on THE DOCTORS not likely now, if ever was, beyond my Wildest Dreams... God, I hope things start looking up with miracles and answered prayers because I feel like I had to pawn my pom poms I use to cheer others up. Well, I best not cry as I might have a vertigo attack and I've done quite well sucking it up since first one from an allergic reaction to aspirin Super Bowl Sunday 2002, and crying can trigger I read so... tissues please. I cannot afford to let this get to me because will only make worse. I must hope to cope for as long as don't lose hope I can always cope... Not only do I need a bike helmet, like Dr. Travis suggests, I needed a crash helmet for hitting rock bottom. Ouch! Bike helmet will have to wait for I just spent moneys I saved for bicycle on over $300 in veterinarian bills, including $73 for $14 of panacur C.
