I have written a book about this subject but I think that people need to learn much more about the illness and how it not only affects the person but the family too. Many people do not understand that this disease progresses over time and how it destroys your mind and your life. My mom has Alzheimer's and it is heartbreaking to watch her change on a daily basis. There are so many resources and options for care that people need to understand and learn about. My mom is home with split shift home health aides. I am truly blessed and lucky to have these four women in my life and in hers.
