I have been watching the Doctors daily ever since it began, and I am surprised you haven't brought Jerry Lewis on the show. Not just a great singer, Jerry travels across the USA to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). His efforts earned him an Oscar in 2009 and coined the term Jerry's Kids for the MDA. It would be really nice to bring him on the show to talk about the MDA.
The MDA is a much needed organization, helping people affected with various muscular dystrophies and neuromuscular diseases. Its primary function is to fund research that could find treatments or cures for people with muscular dystrophies and other rare neuromuscular diseases. Other services of the MDA include free consultations with a physical therapists, occupational therapists, respiratory therapists, and doctors at a MDA clinic. MDA also help purchase manual wheelchairs, leg braces and communication devices for their clients. The most famous service offered by the MDA is a weeklong camp for its youths of ages six to 17 held in the summer.
How do I know so many details about the MDA? Well I have been helped by the MDA on several occasions. I was diagnosed with a neuromuscular disease called Friedreich's Ataxia (FA) since 10 years of age, and I am 27 years old today. My disease gradually weakens the peripheral, autonomic nervous system that makes me lose coordination and balance in every part of the body. I am one of Jerry's Kids! MDA has helped me immensely by paying for wheelchairs and devices which insurance wouldn't purchase.
If Jerry Lewis was to appear on the Doctors, the MDA would receive much deserved recognition. I would love to see him on the show!
