I keep seeing colonoscopy's getting done for people with family histories of Colon Cancer and a history of colon polyps, but, I never hear Dr. Jim Sears talk about adults who have had Giant Jeuvenile Polyps as children and whether we should be screened. Aren't we important too.

Writing to suggest that if you are planning a future segment on children's asthma, that you include information on the first program in the U.S. to collect used and no longer needed nebulizers (breathing treatments) for donation to needy rural clinics and hospitals serving communities in Central America and the Caribbean. Pittsburgh-based nonprofit Global Links (www.globallinks.org) has launched this effort to meet the needs of communities in which mothers often walk miles carrying their infants and children only to wait in line with a gasping child at a nebulizing station that serves an entire community. Until now, parents and individuals here in the U.S. had no option other than to discard their breathing machines after graduating to an inhaler, or when the machines were no longer needed. Baby preparedness for family members, friends & neighbors who know someone having or who recently had a baby who may babysit new baby. Also, how new mom should go about deciding who can babysit baby(ies) both if have lots of family, friends & neighbors who qualify to help who are accessible or doesn't have. Idea inspired by my precious neighbor two streets over who asked me, May 23, 2011, if I could be on her babysit list for her 5 month old son that since I've never had children or babysat an infant I was unable to accept. Although, I was honored to be asked to be on her babysitter list. She's considering 2 women she met online... one she met on an expectant mom website (who lived in Houston & said recently moved to Dallas) & another woman she found on Craigslist.

Today, I took new mother a little gift sack with some gifts for her & shared I'd heard that a nearby church had a parents night out & daycare (2 blocks from her). Yet that wasn't a recommendation as to how good is as I didn't know. Also, suggested she Google safety tips for finding a babysitter & suggested she check ID's of women she met online. Anyway, prayers my neighbor new mom gets best of best babysitters to babysit her 5 month old son as both she and her infant son are SO PRECIOUS.

I think there needs to be a Child's Advocate Hotline for children who have parents who are mentally ill or substance abusers. I know in 1992, substance abuse was leading mental illness yet not sure if is now. Sadly, though, some use mental illness to insult persons too. However, psychosis (...

I think there needs to be a Child's Advocate Hotline for children who have parents who are mentally ill or substance abusers. I know in 1992, substance abuse was leading mental illness yet not sure if is now. Sadly, though, some use mental illness to insult persons too. However, psychosis (extreme confusion) caused by becoming drunk or due to chemical imbalance from unhealthy habits etc. are quite similar.

Nonetheless, sometimes children feel trapped & risk learning unhealthy habits to then continue cycle. Most children I've seen in this circumstance WOULD like to have an alternative such as going to live with a relative that has it more together. I knew three girls who wanted to go to boarding school.

However, children (like adults) often lack the skills to know their rights or how to maneuver out of a bad situation if their parents mental illness or substance abuse problem is hazardous to their welfare. I don't mean as a way to play guilt trips on anyone or insult anyone yet as a way for a child to not lose destiny suffocating in a cycle their family refuses to or is incapable of changing. Over the years I've seen many children who wish could escape before consumed by unhealthy family behaviors. Does such a Child's Advocate Hotline exist so children don't run away or become victims of predators online or that sometimes live under the same roof?

Many parents still use their car seats incorrectly up to 98% of people use their car seat incorrectly and their children are traveling unsafe. Interview people who check car seats for their job. I work at a hospital assisting families with their car seats. It is frightening how many children are at risk. Their is SO MUCH misinformation out there. TV shows often show children not traveling safe. Lets undo the myths!!
