Had a Great Day Last Week
Last week my father and I painted my apartment ceiling (only part of it though, because we needed more paint to finish). We worked for 5 straight hours, then after he left I worked another hour cleaning, vacuuming, etc. It was a really good day. We were both exhausted afterwards. He is coming back this week to finish, which I am looking forward to. Hope everyone had a great last week, even if one day....

Ground Egg Shellls preparation
I saw a segment on "calcium cocktail" that is called as Paula's Potion for Motion Smoothie from Paula Abdul and there was one unusual source that has calcium: Ground Egg Shells. It has 800mg of calcium in 1 Tsp according to Dr. Lisa Masterson. I would love to try this but one question to the doctor: How should I prepare Ground Egg Shells properly? do I have to boil first?

School Shootings and Mental Health Stigma
With all of the recent horrific shootings, and with these types of massacres on the rise, everyone in the media and government is talking about mental health, mental health, mental health. While mental health can be a component to these shootings, I don't believe it is the only thing that sparks these events. I fear that all this talk is going to make people MORE afraid of seeking help, for fear that they will be...

Peanuts can be toxic and cause inflammation...it led to my pain!
I haven't had peanuts in years. I had a problem with sticking to just 2 tablespoons of peanut butter, I loved it sooo much, so a few years ago I switched to almond butter, which is still tasty, but I tend to not overdo it. It's not as tasty as peanut butter. Plus, the fatty acid profile is better, giving you more Omega-3s. Recently, I noticed that my favorite fruit and nut bars--Larabar--had a peanut bar, with only non-GMO peanuts,...

Listen to your body, NOT The Doctors or a particular study
Saw last week's episode about "Myth or Reality: The Drs Set the Record Straight!" (January 2, 2013). The Doctor's "dispelled" the myth that dairy causes mucus prodution. They stated that consuming cow's milk does not produce excess mucus. They referred to a small study consisting of 60 volunteers that was done a while back; I think I found the one in which they were referring: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2154152. We should all be healthy skeptics and challenge these studies. For instance, who funded these...

Back pain
I've had back pain for 3 years now. I have 2 bulging discs, 1 herniated, DDD (degenerative disc disease) and arthritis and I haven't gotten much relief. I've had physical therapy 2 different times (14 weeks) and they didn't even think it was helping. I've done chiropractor and trigger point injections and nothing has really helped. I have constant pain and it doesn't go away. It's been hard for me to find a job and...

Mandatory Flu Shots
Well if a healthcare professional did not take the flu shot I would not be upset, because after sitting in the waiting room for the doctor, I was more afraid of catching the flu from the patients then the healthcare professional because MOST healthcare professionals at least wash there hands, use antibacterial gels, & or gloves. I do not fear the professionals but the patients in the waiting area. Also, individuals are always...

Saw the Allergy DR
I saw the allergy DR for a follow-up yesterday. Appt went well. I found out (he told me) that the results of bloodwork and skin testing might not show much, even though I have food allergies (based on what I told him he said everything cross-checks to indicate food allergies) and still need the epi-pen. The reason is because some of the medications I am on have an anti-cholergenic effect to them. Not like Benadryl...

Food For Thought

A Tomato has four chambers and is red. The heart is red and has four chambers. All of the research shows tomatoes are indeed pure heart...

Lots of people have this question that I have found online. My son like many others urinates to the left or right which causes him to have to worry and aim it into the toilet so that it goes IN the toilet. When he wakes up in the middle of the night and runs to the bathroom if i don't catch him in the act he will urinate facing the toilet but actually peeing on...

Losing Weight the Healthy Way
We would agree on this point that health and work can not go hand in hand, especially in a techno savvy world like this! We give more priority to our work more than any thing else in life. The result being, we get prone to diseases like weight gain (mainly), heart problems, stress, etc. So, how can we start losing weight the healthy way? What To Eat?The first and the foremost thing to do would be...
