Day 3 of 17DD

So I've made it to Day 3 of the 17DD, for the second time around, and I feel great!  I've lost a total of 4.2 pounds just in the first 2 days!!  Seeing results FAST definitely keeps me motivated to continue on.  Swim suit season is coming up quick, and I want to be ready for it.

One of the things I am noticing the second time around is that I don't have as much energy as I did when I followed the diet a year ago.  This could of course be due to many factors - I work full time, go to school part-time, and I have a puppy that keeps me on the go constantly.  Some of these factors were non-existent last year, and hence, could be playing a role in my decreased energy level.  I do hope this subsides, however, before I start falling asleep at work!

Here's what I ate the first 2 days:

DAY 1

Breakfast:  Chobani yogurt, peach, 1 hard-boiled egg

Lunch:  Salad; Romaine Lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, broccolli, green olives (can't resist!) and 1/2 chicken breast w/ Lite Red Wine Vinegar & Olive Oil dressing

Snack:  Orange

Dinner:  Chicken breast w/ sauteed mushrooms and onions / side of yellow & green squash

Snack:  Chobani Yogurt

*** At least 64oz. of water and two 16-oz. green tea w/ Truvia

Exercise = None

DAY 2

Breakfast:  Chobani yogurt, peach, 1 hard-boiled egg

Lunch:  Salad - same as Day 1

Snack:  Pear

Dinner:  Baked Tilapia, asparagus, broccolli

Snack:  Chobani Yogurt

*** At least 64oz. of water and two 16-oz. green tea w/ Truvia

Exercise = 1 hour of Zumba

Today, I'll be having a similar breakfast and lunch, and for dinner I'll be having 2 turkey burgers (no bun or cheese) with a lot of veggies.  I sure hope to see similar weight results tomorrow!  And yes, I do weigh myself every day - I find that it keeps me more on track if I see the repurcussions of what the previous day's work did for me.

Keep ya posted!  Good luck all!!

I've discovered that eggs in the AM keep me feeling satisfied for a long time.

Also, who would have thought that a cheap, if not free, weight-loss drink and metabolism booster is.........water?!

Keep us posted.  I've been slacking with keeping everyone posted, which is another reason I've fallen (one foot off) the wagon!  You can see my previous blogs, then a sudden stop.  I've gotta start blogging again about the 17DD because that kept me accountable.

I am on the diet again this year again as well. I am having trouble being completely true to the diet and of course my results show it. I weight myself every day too and it does really keep me more accountable as well. I want to lose another 20 lbs. I have kept off 20 of the 25 that I lost last year.

I completely agree GreenFish - eggs definitely keep you fuller longer.  When I don't have at least one in the morning, I'm definitely hungry for a fruit or lunch earlier than usual.  Because we're allowed 2 eggs a day, I've actually been having one in the morning and another one after work as a light snack before dinner.  It definitely keeps the hunger pains away!

I'll definitely keep you posted, as I find the same thing with the accountability.  Plus, I really like the idea of keeping a "diary" to go along with the program.  It helps.

plamd - What cycle/day are you on?  Why are you having trouble this time around?  Maybe we can help!!  I think it's great that you only put on 5 out of the 25 lbs.  You should be able to get that off easily.  Motivation is key.  :o)

I think my trouble is that at times I am pleased with where I am at although I would like to lose more. I am starving when I come home from work and tend to eat the wrong kind of snack lately. I know better. I am going to try the egg when I get home. I know that I can not have an orange, or any kind of fruit, for a snack for it makes me hungrier unless I have protein with it. I usually have some yogurt with it and then I am o.k. Everytime I have a snack or meal I find protein has to be there or I am only hungrier in about 1/2 hour. I will let you know how the egg works for me. I think that I may have to read the book again to get back on track again.

I understand completely.  I've felt that way many times where I want (and need) to lose weight, but I feel like I can stay the same for the time being and all is good.  This seems to happen to me during the winter months; the summer months are a completely different story.  I panic when I start to see the sunshine.... it only means that swimsuit season is around the corner and I better act...FAST!

Definitely have the protein.  And make sure your house is full of all of the foods you CAN have and very little, or none at all, of any of that other crap.  Cleaning house is one of the most important steps.  It aids in keeping you away from the junk.  Why?  Because you don't have any!!  (And as some of my relatives would say, well, that's when you go to the store and buy some!!)  Seriously though, we all know what we need to do.  It's the matter of just doing it.

I've watched my whole family over the years (most of them overweight) struggle constantly with their weight.  It seemed that in every conversation, somehow dieting and weightloss would come up.  Well, I'm 27 years old and honestly don't want to have to worry about this anymore!  If I can get into a healthier lifestyle NOW, it will be that much easier LATER.

It might actually be a good idea to read the book again - it definitely couldn't hurt!

Yeah, I wish I could dejunk my cupboards too but I have a growing boy at the house and he needs his carbs. He is a healthy eater. My husband loves his sweets after supper but he will settle for a fruit salad. My biggest threat is a bag of potatoe chips. Love the crunch. Switched to almonds but that is not working either cause I can't stick to just a few. Any suggestions out there? I love crunchy snacks. I find celery works but I would like to have some other choices.

sbourban

Ooh, well that makes it a little tougher!  I guess you can't really get rid of the junk.  In your case, your willpower and motivation will be put to an extreme test.  If you want it badly enough, you'll figure it out.  ;o)

As for crunchy snacks, that's a good question.  I don't find there to be many crunchy foods on the first cycle besides the obvious; celery, carrot sticks, broccolli.  Something that's not necessarily crunchy but is delicious are frozen grapes.  Of course, they will still need to be consumed by 2pm, but they offer a nice cool snack during the day.

How's it been going overall (besides the chips of course!)?

GreenFish

plamd, I can't dejunk my cupboards either because I have a growing young husband!  He's very active, so he likes carbs like potato chips and fries, which I've fallen prey to.  I now feel that since I've strayed, it will be easier from this point on to stay motivated...I didn't like my results, or lack thereof!  Another problem that I had was I wasn't efficently stocked.  Time to go shopping!

A crunchy snack that I just discovered is roasted seaweed.  They're thin, kind of wispy, yet crunchy.  Not sure where you can find in Canada...maybe the Asian/International food aisle?  One serving is 30 calories, and it has 100% daily value of iodine.  I know that all Canadian foods have iodized salt, so be careful not to get too much iodine if you try these out.  I need the iodine because I don't use much iodized salt, plus I don't eat any other foods with iodine.  They are allowed in Cycle 2 every other day according to Dr. Mike's Asian Cuisine section.
