I've got mail?

Still waiting on letter from Fairmont State nursing program to see if i got accepted or not. I've heard different accounts from fellow students about getting into the program. Some say that in order to get accepted you must score upper 80s and 90s on the entrance exam and maintain a 4.0 gpa. Which I scored in the upper 70s and have a 3.7. so yikes. However, i've heard just as many other people say that they have been told by their advisor that scoring atleast a 50 on all parts on the TEAS(entrance exam) and having atleast a 3.5 will get you in. So who knows. I got a letter about 2 months ago stating that I should get an answer of acceptance in late Feb. No one else has gotten theirs so every day that passes I get a little more anxous! arg!!

I also know that last year over 1,000 people applied for the program and the college only took 96! Most of which weren't current students, they were LPN's from the local Technical Center. Why such competition when nurses are needed so badly?

Anyhew. I'm off of here for now. Going to relax after a weekend full of work and study for medical term. bye yall.

Should a college only accept 96 applicants out of 1200 when nurses are in such high demand?

You certainly picked a good field choice. I welcome a good nurse anyday. Some are so bothered by patients.   Wouldn't it be wonderful if all students got in due to demand.  Good luck to you.  I hope you get in!

It is like any medical field, Highly competitive.  I am a freshmen in college working on my BA for applied psychology so that I can apply for Graduate school in PT.  Here the scores needed on the MCAT and the GPA needed are High too! I know that yearly at the school that I am going to be applying to in 2 years about 100 people apply and only around 20 get accepted each year.  I know it can seem like it takes forever to hear about admission! I was in your place last year waiting to hear from colleges about acceptance, but just hang in there!
