Hi My name is Mary and I have been diagnosed with anal cancer in Dec 2008. I have the same kind of cancer that Farrah Fawcett had they caught mine at stage II. I went through chemotherapy and radiation and they got it all for now but Im in so much pain all the time so they have sent me to Stanford cancer center for two opions so I went there and got the opions they are going to put a colostomy bag on me so everytime I go to the bathroom I have so much pain still after 5 months of treatment has been over with. They also said that from the radiation that my utrus has drop and its closed up so they said that they might have to take that out also all this treatments have put me into post menopause and depression cause it could come back I have to have Pet/CT scans every 3 to 6 months and colonoscopy's every 6, 9 or 12 months to make sure that it don't come back I also have a chemport in my chest for the chemotherapy medications so I just go day by day. My husband is the best he's been there for me every step of the way and been by my side all the way. My mom is there for me also she lives in Texas and she came to see me after all my treatments were all done and we had a good time together she spent a week here with me she wants to come back to spend time with again. I love to go fishing, camping, riding bikes, taking photos of concerts and going to the fairs but its hard for me right now cause I get so tired and can't be in the sun alot so I have to do things very differnet. But theres no money to do anything cause the bills and my medications cost so much my medications cost $350.00 a month just for me and then my husband is dibetic and hes got medications so Im fighting with SSDI right now for my illness so we will see how that goes. I go back to the doctors on SEPT 1 to talk about the visits to Stanford cancer center and about the colostomy bag so I will post whats going to be done. Well now I have been to a colostomy bag nurse to talk about the bags and see how they work then I seen a OB-GYN doctor the next day and I have to have a total hysterectomy casue the radiation did a number on my ovaries she told me that I had ovaries like a 65 years lady the radaition kill my ovaries so thats where I stand right now. Well I got a call from the judge today and he said that I'm disabled for good. Well im still waiting on my SSI but I did my two surgerys in OCT. I had both done at the same time and stayed in the hospital 4 to 5 days then I came home Im on the colostomy bag and have to wear that for about 6 months to a year. Im doing ok with it its hard to get used to the colostomy bag but im dealing with it its sometimes pretty hard. I still have good days and bad days.
